The mission of the Wyse Family Foundation is to support growth and enrichment in the greater Dayton community through the arts, science, nature, education, and community programs through grants and volunteer work.

The Wyse Family Foundation was created in 1998 as a legacy to David S. Wyse, founder of Projects Unlimited, Inc. The Wyse family has been serving the Dayton community for 4 generations.

The Wyse Family Foundation is fueled by contributions from Projects Unlimited and members of the Wyse Family.

One of our family’s core values has always been giving back to our community. In our early days all that we could offer was volunteer service, which we did often. If our community needed help, we would show up. As our business, Projects Unlimited, Inc., grew and became more successful, we realized we could make a greater impact on our community through service and charitable grants.

In 2018 Jennifer (Wyse) Behm became Executive Director of the Wyse Family Foundation, pursuing volunteer opportunities and overseeing the grant making process. She has served on several local non-profit boards and has a passion for philanthropy and community engagement. Through the support of her father, David L. Wyse, the foundation will be able to support the Dayton community for multiple generations.

David L. Wyse

Jason Wyse

David L. Wyse served as President and CEO of Projects Unlimited, Inc for many decades and still serves as Chairman of the Board. David has always been very community minded and has served the community through his involvement in Rotary, Scouts of America, and served many years on the former Victoria Theatre Association, now Dayton Live.

David L. and his late wife, Liz, started the Wyse Family Foundation in memory of his father, David S. Wyse. They joke that David S. would give $5 to anyone that asked. No less. No more. David L. wanted to make a bigger impact and wished to build a foundation that would support fewer, more select nonprofits in a bigger way.

Chris Wyse

Chris is the current President and CEO of the family Aerospace & Electronics company, Projects Unlimited, Inc.

Chris learned perseverance as a child by achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Through scouts he learned valuable leadership skills and perseverance through adverse circumstances.

Chris has served the community’s nonprofit sector through his board positions on his church’s board, Polk Grove Methodist. Chris spent many years serving on the Dayton Live Board and Executive Board. Chris is also co-founder of Maji International, a nonprofit orginization that brings water filtration systems to remote villages in Kenya.

Chris’ wife, Jamie, is a retired pharmacist who manages a small philanthropic fund herself. Their son, Alex, is an avid hockey player in high school.

Jason has always loved to help people. Jason achieved the rank of Eagle Scout as a teenager. He demonstrated the ability to informally lead people at a young age. He is a wonderful musician, mathematician, magician, and maven.

Jason supports several local organizations and individuals in the downtown area.

The Wyse Family would not be where they are today without remembering two members who are no longer with us.

David S. Wyse founded Projects Unlimited, Inc. in 1951. The company performed modestly providing jobs to many families within the Dayton community. The cornerstones that he laid provided the foundation for the Wyse family legacy today.

David S. was a true entrepreneur and inventor. He was a tinkerer and engineer creating devices and gadgets he thought the world needed including smokeless airline pipe, a plastic injection molded lipstick stash, fishing depth finders, and small motorbikes like the Wyse Cycle, Skat Cat, and Skat Kitty.

David S. was even the very first winner of The Boxcar Derby Race in 1934 in the 10 and under category. We can only imagine how pleased that he would be to now have a highway exit named after him.

Liz Wyse was the heart of the Wyse Family. Her outgoing, vibrant nature allowed her to make friends and connections wherever she went. She spent her life volunteering at the schools, as a den mother, and helping with many community organizations. She served on the Board of Aullwodd Audubon Center & Farm immersing herself in the experience and helping with whatever was needed.

Liz had a big heart with lots of love to share. She and David L. hosted 6 exchange students over the years treating them as family more than guests. Liz always had an extra seat at the dinner table for any hungry friends that might stop by.

Liz loved making a difference in our community and even more so in individual lives. Her compassion, empathy, and love were paramount.
